Even though we take the time to wash & fuss a bit with the dishes, I still feel you should wash them before using. You shouldn't set a hot dish in the sink or on a cold counter. If you need to soak it, just set it on a trivet or towel while it cools. Any dish can break or crack no matter what brand is. During the winter, its recommended that when your package arrives, you open the top and let it get used to the temp in your house for at least 24 hrs.

Most Pyrex fans know, its not recommended to wash in the dishwasher -- hand wash it. Depending on your water, you can easily ruin the finish of your Pyrex. Corning is a whole different animal. Hardy and can take it -- right into the dishwasher they go. We're into quality control here, the dishes are gone over by me, then my husband: 2 sets of hands and eyes are better than one...
